When thee clients for my latest project came to me, they told me that they had this amazing attic terrace in the heart of Madrid and dreamed of making into an outdoor oasis for them to enjoy with family and friends year-round.

They wanted a minimalist, yet cozy space, that had an Ibiza-like feel, yet reflected the current style of their home, which was full of warm colours and honey-toned, original hardwood floors. Therefore, the palette chosen was a natural one, with a focus on white, off-white undertones, and touches of deep greens, pastel blues, and wood tones. All combined, these very subdued, earthen tones created a sense of harmony between the bright blue skies and the warm terracotta floors.

One of my core values as a designer is to bring decor elements that trasmit a positive energy and a dialogue to the space. Since we had decided that the main decor focus of the project would be the inclusion of plants and vines, survivable during the hot Madrid summers and the cold winters. Plants were definitely the main focus of the decor, yet we did want to add some more personal elements to the space.

The two distinctive touches that were added were the plates and the cement coasters, both created by inspirational female artists. local to Galicia and to Canarias.  By bringing in artwork from these two regions in Spain, a fusion is created between the designer and the clients. Both products are beautifully crafted, and created by woman with inspirational stories. I truly believe that integrating into the design special elements created through love and passion bring a special energy and a glow to the spaces I design.

I would like to thank my wonderful clients for this unique design opportunity. It was a fantastic experience and I feel fortune to have worked with such a warm, kind, and inspirational couple.
